The first post above explains our general outline of study.  We are studying Pirates by the following regions:

• Spanish Main
• Mediterranean
• Indian Ocean
• Eastern Seas

Below are our notebook pages for Pirates.  We will use one set of sheets (p.1-4) for each region we study.

This sheet is for mapping the region we are studying.

Page 2 includes a place for sketching one of the many weapons we learn about, a spot for sketching pirate ships, and a section for recording a little about pirate life.

Page 3 is a biography sheet for any infamous pirate the student wants to study a bit more.  There's room for a portrait (either print-out or sketch), sketching that pirate's signature Jolly Roger, and a few lines to record some of the pirate's most well-known exploits.

Like in the Explorer studies, the final page is an exercise in copy work.  There are 4 different versions of Pirate Page 4, each with a different selection of seaworthy poetry to copy.  While you would use pages 1-3 exactly the same for all 4 regions, you would print out a different page 4 for each region in order to have a new poem to copy in each study.

Since I am making these sheets anyway for my own children, it is my great pleasure to share them with other homeschool families.  Feel free to make copies for personal or co-op use.  I just ask that you please not change them, charge for them, or call them your own creation.  Thanks!
